HBOT (hyperbaric oxygen therapy) can play an important role in supporting treatment for the chronic, often debilitating, illnesses cause by the Lyme disease bacteria, Borrelia burgdorferi,
or any combination of the other bacterial, parasitic or viral “co-infections” of Lyme disease. Among these are Bartonella, Babesia, Ehrlichia, Mycoplasma, Anaplasma,
and RMSF. These pathogens can cause long-term infection that results in chronic inflammation, deterioration of the body’s defense systems, cognitive impairment, and fatigue among many other symptoms.
HBOT can play an important role in repairing and rehabilitating the systems weakened and damaged by chronic illness. Our hyperbaric protocol is focused on providing patients support during on-going Lyme treatment, not as an approach to attacking the underlying pathogens. Patients start at relatively low pressures and slowly progress to higher pressures based on their response to the therapy.
Bethesda HBOT works in cooperation with patients’ referring physicians in offering this therapy. For information, please call 240.696.2764.
