Evidence continues to pile up showing professional football leads to brain injury. New research published Nov 28, 2016 by Johns Hopkins researchers furthers the understanding of the role of specific brain cells in inflammatory processes that may contribute to brain damage.  It is well known that HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) plays an important anti-inflammatory role in brain injury, and specifically helps support normal cell function. There is no excuse for not encouraging all athletes, young and old, to be evaluated for HBOT treatment immediately following a concussion and as part of the healing process before returning to play.
